Talbeena (also spelled Talbina) is a warm barley porridge — one of the oldest Sunnah foods, blended here with nuts, seeds and spices.
Fully Organic Talbeena starts with stone-ground barley and is finished with real ingredients — no preservatives, no artificial flavours, no fillers. Available in three blends so you can pick the one that fits your household.
Choose Your Blend
Classic – Shahi Nuts
Barley with almonds, pistachios, cashews and cardamom. The richest of the three, and the closest to how talbeena is traditionally served at home. Best for a filling winter breakfast.
Sugar-Free
Barley with pumpkin seeds, melon seeds and lotus seeds. No sugar added at any stage. Barley is naturally high in fibre and contains beta-glucan, and this blend keeps the sweetness out entirely — add honey yourself if you want it, or leave it plain.
Kids Special – Choco Elaichi
The same Shahi Nuts blend — barley with almonds, pistachios, cashews and cardamom — with cocoa powder added. Made for children who refuse plain porridge. The cocoa does the convincing; the barley and nuts do the work.
What is Talbeena?
Talbeena comes from the Arabic word laban (milk), because the cooked porridge turns soft and milky in texture. Barley flour is simmered with milk or water until it thickens, then served warm.
It is mentioned in the hadith literature, where Aisha (RA) is reported to have recommended it for the sick and the grieving. In our region it has stayed a household staple, usually eaten at breakfast or before sleep.
Why Choose Fully Organic Talbeena?
- Stone-ground barley base in every blend
- Real nuts and seeds — not flavouring
- No preservatives, no artificial colours or flavours
- Naturally high in fibre
- Slow-release energy that keeps you full longer
- Ready in under 10 minutes
- Net Weight: 500g
How to Prepare Talbeena
Mix 2 tablespoons of Talbeena into 1 cup of cold milk or water so no lumps form. Place on low heat and stir continuously for 6–8 minutes until it thickens into a smooth porridge.
Remove from heat and let it cool slightly. If you want it sweeter, add Jangli Shehd raw honey after cooking rather than during, so the honey is not heated.
Who It Suits
- Anyone wanting a warm, light breakfast
- Households cutting refined sugar from breakfast
- Children who won't eat plain oats or daliya
- Elderly family members who need something soft
- Suhoor during Ramadan and cold winter mornings
Talbeena vs Oats
Both are whole grains, both high in fibre. Talbeena is barley-based and cooks much softer, which makes it easier when you don't want a heavy meal. Oats hold more texture and suit a bigger bowl with fruit and nuts. Many customers keep both — compare our White Oats and Loaded Oats.
Storage
Store in a cool, dry place away from sunlight. Reseal the pouch tightly after opening. There are no preservatives, so keeping it sealed matters — use within 3 months of opening for the best taste.
Allergen Information
Contains almonds, pistachios and cashews (Classic and Kids Special blends). Contains gluten — barley is a gluten grain. Please check the blend you are ordering if anyone in your household has a nut allergy.
